- A scene of abuse against a child. This moment is brief and written as delicately as possible, but it is vital to the story. It reveals the horrors of Ihatithre, a world very unlike Nuama, and sets crucial events into motion. This is the only scene of its kind in the entire series, and its inclusion serves a clear purpose in both plot and character development. It does not happen to one of the main characters as an ‘abuse-as-character-building’ trope.
- Intense power dynamics and violence (almost always in favor of non-male-gendered people).
- Infanticide (of males).
- Explicit, sensual intimate scenes, always focused on her pleasure (plus queer, sapphic, and poly constellations). Words like ‘sheath’ and ‘shatter’ are not used 😉
