What is Mythos of the Hollowed Souls?
Mythos of the Hollowed Souls (MOTHS) is a dark romantasy series set in a world of pleasure and abundance — but a hellrealm is bleeding through, traitors threaten the throne, and ancient secrets refuse to stay buried.
Nuama is ruled by winged women. Men are cared for, trained in the domestic and pleasure arts, and kept far from power. It is a beautiful place to live.
There’s a companion series too — Nuama After Dark — spicy standalone books set in the same world, following women who arrive in Nuama from the hellrealm and get to put their whole lives down.
Where should I start, and do the books go in order?
Start with The Song of Seven Fires, Book One of MOTHS. It’s free, forever.
MOTHS is one continuous story and should be read in order — Books One through Five are out now.
Nuama After Dark is the opposite: every book stands alone and they can be read in any order, whenever you want something shorter and warmer.
Do I need to read MOTHS to enjoy Nuama After Dark?
No. Not one of them requires it.
Each Nuama After Dark book follows a woman who crosses into Nuama from the hellrealm, exhausted and braced for the worst, and is instead met with abundance, safety, and as much pleasure as she wants. You need nothing to start one.
That said — readers of both get a third thing. The women in the After Dark books are not separate from the main series. Their arrivals are felt in Nuama, and some of them turn up in MOTHS by name. Read both and you’ll catch it happening.
How much does it cost to read?
Two books are free forever: Book One of MOTHS, and Kiss of the Serpent, Nuama After Dark Book Two. Others go free from time to time — subscribers hear first.
Everything else is priced to be easy to say yes to. Prices vary a little by retailer and change now and then, so the honest answer is: check the link — it’ll show you the current price everywhere the book is sold.

How spicy are they?
MOTHS is dark fantasy first. There’s heat in it, and it’s open-door when it arrives, but the spine of the series is the world, the throne, and what’s coming through from the other side.
Nuama After Dark is the spicy one — roughly a fifth to a third of each book is open-door. Not erotica; there’s a real story holding it up. If you know Ice Planet Barbarians, that’s the neighbourhood.
Every After Dark book is labelled on its own page so you know what you’re getting before you start — who’s involved, and whether it ends in a happily-for-now or she simply leaves satisfied. All of them are low-angst, and the focus is always her pleasure.
Is this series appropriate for all readers?
No, and I’d rather tell you plainly than have you find out mid-chapter.
Both series are for adults. They contain sex, violence, the machinery of a society that treats people as property — and sexual violence.
It begins in Part One of Book One. The scene takes place in the hellrealm, and it heavily implies that a child has been assaulted. Nothing is shown. What’s on the page is Thelyrah holding her and comforting her, which is what the scene is for. But it’s the first thing you’ll read, and if that’s a hard line for you I’d far rather you knew before you opened the book than after.
It returns in later books — always committed by antagonists, always treated as exactly what it is, never as spectacle.
What you won’t find: harm to women or children used for titillation, and no queer character punished for being queer. Queer love is prioritised throughout. Nuama protects its women and its children. That’s the whole point of the place.
